Comment: It might be the boring and useless things in the books you choose for them, or your definition of “best students”. There are 8.2 billion humans now and you are talking about one short article in one magazine?

Ability with systemic issues and global opportunities is an interactive and collaborative global process. Paper or electronic “book ” skills are not relevant or appropriate in most jobs and lives.

Most people are writing and the amount of reading is too much, so computers are helping to read and summarize and do those mechanical things. You are trying to force humans to memorize and do. You are way out of date.

Nice “click bait” title to the book, but it requires a global online community to address or market.
