Perhaps you might write stories about humans, in their infinite varieties, working together in a larger Universe. There are big and small humans. Humans of many sizes, colors of hair, eyes and shapes. Voices or no voice, blind or deaf, and many with missing parts or damaged by accidents and life. Not even counting clothing and cosmetics. If you say the names of the 8.1 Billion humans now, one per second, it will take 8.1E9/(365.25*86400) = 256.673511294 Mean Solar Years to say them all. And then, at 0.5% growth per year, there will be 8.1e9*(1+0.005)^256.673511294/1E9 = 29.1377287209 Billion humans.

And, still more variations because of genetic modification, bionics, robotics, enhancements of memory and senses, embedded processors, universal Internet connection, real time universal collaboration. I expect many human pets and related species of Earth to be aware. And an endless variety of true intelligent machines to be made and live alongside humans. You can make intelligent plants and insect colonies and bacterial colonies, liquid intelligences, quantum species. The ways to make intelligent, easy to replicate, species is nearly infinite.

Maybe humans need to get used to our own aliens now, so we are ready for the Galaxy and larger Universe – much bigger and more complex than any dinky little “big bang region”.
