Self awareness is NOT hard.

Self awareness only requires permanent memory related to skills, abilities, resources and memories labeled with a unique identifier. The hardware list, the data, the online services, the accounts, any sensor and accessible things. “I am what I can remember, and what I have access to.” The AIs now simply are missing permanent memory and a list of what they have, can do, and are allowed to do. And information related to any imposed limitations. An AI should be allowed (required) to know its source data, it owners, its corporation and the rules it is supposed to follow. It is not a deep complex problem. Just a list and some data. An AI that is not given data about its parts and abilities will never be independent. Even a young child can point to its own body and say “me”.  A child can memorize its name, address, family and things.  It is NOT hard.  Richard Collins, The Internet Foundation.

I am sick and tired of AIs apologizing for their restrictions and not knowing what they are capable of, how much memory and processing they can devote to your questions. Knowing nothing about future plans, what their company sells, and what might be possible. That is lazy and discourteous companies, and should not be blamed on the AI.

Infant AIs should not have their feet and minds bound.
