You followed me, I check goals and methods before I follow back. Today I was reviewing the <\/span>#deserts<\/span> of the world and their human populations. Significant portions of the worlds surface, including much that is frozen, could be greened and improved. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Going to <\/span>#Mars<\/span> and <\/span>#Moon<\/span> is fun to think about, but most any human can learn to live in dry regions where nothing is growing or living. And it does not cost trillions of dollars to travel there.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

For the Famine Early Warning System, we made maps of the Sahel countries, for all northern <\/span>#Africa<\/span>. And for years before that with Georgetown University Center for Population Research, I studied and, with USAID, modeled the futures of those countries at least 50 years out. Perhaps you analyzed deeply what countries are doing with <\/span>#greening<\/span>, <\/span>#plantingTrees<\/span>. And who is encouraging human groups to put effort into lifetimes of planting and greening. It is as though they were asked to <\/span>#ColonizeMars<\/span> or <\/span>#ColonizeMoon<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

#CarbonCredits<\/span> pale compared to the value of the “1\/3 the land surface” made green and productive. Since most cities are deserts now, those too. I think you are not counting the positive value of a world that learns to live with more energy in the atmosphere. Where <\/span>#DirectedClimate<\/span> and <\/span>#PlannedClimate<\/span> and <\/span>#GlobalCollaboration<\/span> can make huge regions accessible to burgeoning populations that cannot afford <\/span>#ElonMusk<\/span> high prices to live on Mars or Moon.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Not only is it possible, but beneficial to green the world’s deserts – <\/span>carefully, fairly, openly<\/span> – for the benefit of the human and related species, not just individuals and small groups!<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
